Ketwell Alaska in Anchorage is now credentialed under the Veterans Care Agreement (VCA) program, allowing eligible veterans to receive IV ketamine treatment fully covered by the VA. Referrals are typically initiated through VA Community Care. Travel and lodging reimbursement may be available for qualifying veterans.

All veteran care in our clinic is authorized through the VA under Veterans Care Agreements. Referrals and authorizations are typically coordinated through VA Community Care.

Ketwell Alaska provides IV ketamine therapy exclusively for mental-health–related indications authorized by the VA. 

  • Treatment-Resistant Depression (TRD)

  • Mood-related conditions when ketamine is clinically appropriate and VA-authorized
    (excluding primary pain diagnoses)

We welcome veterans from Anchorage, Fairbanks, the Mat-Su, Interior Alaska, the Kenai Peninsula, Southeast communities, and rural and off-road villages.

Travel & Lodging Support For Alaska Veterans

Many veterans must travel long distances for specialty care. When your treatment at KetWell Alaska is authorized by the VA, you may be eligible for Beneficiary Travel Reimbursement, which may include:

  • Air travel or mileage reimbursement

  • Lodging reimbursement for required overnights

  • Limited meal or incidental reimbursements (per VA standards)

Eligibility is determined solely by the VA, not Ketwell Alaska.
We will gladly provide appointment documentation to support your claim.

What to Expect at Ketwell Alaska

Your first visit includes:

  • Review of your VA authorization

  • Comprehensive clinical intake

  • Discussion of your mental health history and goals

  • Time for all questions to be answered

During your infusion:

  • You will be continuously monitored by trained medical staff

  • You will relax in a private setting

  • Many patients report calm, dreamlike experiences

  • A nurse will remain attentive throughout your infusion

After your infusion:

  • You’ll rest until medically cleared

  • You must have transportation arranged

  • Treatment notes will be forwarded to your VA provider

Yes. Ketwell Alaska is contracted through Veterans Care Agreements, and treatment is fully covered when authorized by the VA. Referrals typically move through VA Community Care. Referrals cannot come from a PCP or private MH provider, they must come from a VA mental health provider.    

Only VA mental-health-related indications are eligible, and referrals must originate within VA Mental Health.
