Referrals are typically initiated through VA Community Care. Travel and lodging reimbursement may be available for qualifying veterans.

How VA Community Care & Veterans Care Agreements Work

Step 1 – Speak With Your VA Provider
Start by talking with your VA primary care clinician, psychiatrist, or mental-health provider. Tell them you are interested in IV ketamine treatment at: Ketwell Alaska – Anchorage, AK (Authorized under Veterans Care Agreements) Your provider will determine whether IV ketamine is clinically appropriate for you under VA guidelines. -
Step 2 – VA Referral & Authorization
Although Ketwell Alaska is credentialed through Veterans Care Agreements, referrals are commonly initiated through the VA Community Care Office.
Your VA care team will:
1). Submit a referral naming Ketwell Alaska
2). Request a VCA authorization for IV ketamine
3). Notify you when the authorization is approved
We cannot begin care until we receive the official authorization from the VA. -
Step 3 – Ketwell Alaska Schedules Your Appointment
After we receive the authorization, our team will contact you to schedule your intake consultation and infusion appointments. We coordinate carefully with rural veterans who may need to arrange flights, ferries, or overnight lodging. -
Step 4 – Ongoing Communication With the VA
We provide treatment notes and updates directly to your VA care team.

Travel & Lodging Support For Alaska Veterans
Many veterans must travel long distances for specialty care. When your treatment at KetWell Alaska is authorized by the VA, you may be eligible for Beneficiary Travel Reimbursement, which may include:
Air travel or mileage reimbursement
Lodging reimbursement for required overnights
Limited meal or incidental reimbursements (per VA standards)
Eligibility is determined solely by the VA, not Ketwell Alaska.

You will be continuously monitored by trained medical staff

After your infusion:
You’ll rest until medically cleared
You must have transportation arranged
Treatment notes will be forwarded to your VA provider
